Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy has teamed up with Colombian global icon Shakira for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, titled “Dai Dai.”
The collaboration, set for release on May 14, has already generated massive excitement across the football and music worlds after Shakira teased snippets of the anthem on social media ahead of its official unveiling.
The track marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup stage following the huge success of her previous tournament anthems, including Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and La La La (Brazil 2014) during the tournament in Brazil.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration represents another landmark moment in the global rise of Afrobeats, with the Grammy-winning star now bringing his signature sound to football’s biggest spectacle. Fans have already begun anticipating a vibrant fusion of Afrobeat rhythms and Latin pop energy, hoping “Dai Dai” can recreate the cultural impact and timeless appeal of “Waka Waka.”
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Mexico, United States, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and is expected to be the largest edition of the tournament in history.
