Dieng Bids Farewell to Lorient as Bundesliga Clubs Circle

Senegalese forward Bamba Dieng has confirmed he will leave FC Lorient at the end of his contract, bringing an emotional close to a three-year spell with the French side.

The 26-year-old, whose deal expires on June 30, announced his decision in a heartfelt message shared on social media, drawing the curtain on a chapter he described as deeply meaningful both professionally and personally.

“To the entire FC Lorient family,” Dieng wrote. “After some wonderful years at the club, the time has come for me to turn an important page in my career.”

He extended gratitude across the board, acknowledging the club’s hierarchy, technical staff, teammates, and supporters for their unwavering support during his time with Les Merlus.

“Wearing this jersey has been an honor,” he added. “I will cherish the wonderful memories of all the moments I’ve experienced here.”

Dieng’s departure opens the door to a fresh challenge, with strong interest emerging from Germany. Clubs including Werder Bremen, FC St. Pauli, SC Freiburg, and TSG Hoffenheim are all reportedly monitoring his situation as they look to bolster their attacking options.

On the international stage, Dieng remains part of the Senegal national team setup, having earned 21 caps and scoring once. A member of Senegal’s triumphant squad at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, he now has his sights set on a place in Pape Thiaw’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Teranga Lions face a challenging group featuring France, Norway, and Iraq, and Dieng’s next club move could prove decisive in shaping his chances of making the final cut.

For now, his farewell marks the end of a significant chapter in Lorient—one defined by resilience, flashes of brilliance, and a bond with supporters that, by his own admission, will endure long after his departure.
