Super Falcons Captain Ajibade Leads Early Arrivals as Nigeria Set for Cameroon Friendlies

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have begun assembling in Yaoundé ahead of their international friendly matches against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade is among the early arrivals in camp, alongside key players such as Oluwatosin Demehin, Christy Ucheibe, Gift Monday, and experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene.

Also already in camp are Ogbonna Glory, Christopher Precious, Omewa Joy, Onyenezide Esther, Oloko Fatima, and Nkwocha Favour, bringing the number of players currently available to the technical crew to 11.

Fourteen more players are still being awaited as preparations intensify.

Head coach Justine Madugu is expected to take charge of the team’s first training session later tonight as the Falcons begin tactical and fitness drills in earnest.

Nigeria will take on Cameroon in the first friendly encounter in Yaoundé on Saturday, before both sides clash again in a second fixture scheduled for next Tuesday.

The double-header forms part of the Super Falcons’ build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the nine-time African champions will aim to reaffirm their dominance on the continent.

At the tournament, Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt, setting up what promises to be a competitive group stage.

Cameroon, on their part, will compete in Group D against Cape Verde, Ghana, and Mali.

The friendly matches are expected to offer Madugu an opportunity to assess squad depth, test combinations, and fine-tune strategies ahead of the continental showpiece.

With key stars already in camp and more reinforcements on the way, anticipation is building as the Super Falcons step up preparations for another major campaign.
