During the winter transfer window, Timo Werner left RB Leipzig to join the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS. However, as the American club kicked off its season, the German forward was still in Germany despite being fully fit and free of injury.
Until last Thursday, he was even continuing to train with Leipzig, raising questions about his prolonged absence from his new team.
According to the German outlet Bild, Werner’s delay was caused by complications linked to US work visa regulations under Donald Trump’s strict immigration policies. The striker had not yet obtained the required documents to enter the United States for professional reasons, forcing him to wait longer than expected.
After visiting the American embassy to resolve the issue, the situation has now been cleared, and Werner has finally travelled to the United States to begin his MLS adventure.
