The Champions League round of 16 draw has been completed following the playoff stage, confirming the final sixteen teams still in contention for the title.
Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Sporting CP, Barcelona and Manchester City, who qualified directly, are joined by Real Madrid, Atalanta, Galatasaray, Newcastle, Atlético de Madrid, Bodø/Glimt, Bayer Leverkusen and defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. With the current competition format limiting possible opponents, the draw offered little suspense but still delivered several high-profile encounters.
Paris Saint-Germain face a particularly difficult test against Chelsea and could meet Liverpool in the quarter-finals if they progress. Another headline fixture sees Real Madrid once again up against Manchester City, with the winner likely to face either Atalanta or Bayern Munich next. Arsenal appear to have a favourable route against Bayer Leverkusen, while Newcastle will challenge Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid host Tottenham, Galatasaray take on Liverpool and Bodø/Glimt meet Sporting CP. The round of 16 matches are scheduled for March 10–11 and March 17–18.
