Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has revealed plans to use the upcoming friendly against Mexico to test players who may not feature in other competitive warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup.
“We want to use the Mexico game to try some other players that will not play in the competitive friendlies. If things work out well, we will play a 5th friendly in the USA,” Adams said, highlighting the team’s flexible approach to preparation.
The strategy signals a focus on squad depth and tactical experimentation, giving fringe players a chance to stake their claim for inclusion in the final World Cup call up. Ghana’s coaching staff aim to balance competitive readiness with opportunities for emerging talent, ensuring the squad is fully evaluated before the tournament kicks off.
The potential additional friendly in the United States would provide another platform to test combinations and match fitness ahead of the global stage, reflecting Ghana’s commitment to thorough preparation.
