Mighty Wanderers extend contract of coach Bob Mpinganjira

Malawi Super League outfit Mighty Wanderers have handed new two-year contracts to Head Coach Bob Mpinganjira and his assistant McDonald Mtetemera, keeping them at the club until March 2028.

Mpinganjira has extended his stay together with his assistant Macdonald Mtetemela.

“We are pleased to announce that Head Coach, Bob Mpinganjira has agreed to a two-year contract extension at Mighty Wanderers FC. Mpinganjira will be in charge of Malawi’s football champions until March 2028.”

Another statement said: “Assistant Coach, Macdonald “Nginde” Mtetemera will remain at lali lubani road for the next 24 months. Mtetemera will deputize coach Bob Mpinganjira until March 2028.”

Meanwhile, Mpinganjira is amongst the list of three nominees for the FAM awards under the 2025 men’s coach of the year.

Unveiling the nominees on Wednesday afternoon, FAM says the FAM football awards (Akatakwe 2025) will be competed by Malawi U-20 Coach, Millias Pofera, Mighty Wanderers FC’s Bob Mpinganjira and Silver Strikers’ gaffer, Peter Mgangira.

According to FAM, Mpinganjira has been nominated for having a wonderful season, winning 27 of 40 matches across competitions. Mpinganjira guided Wanderers to the league title, suffering only one defeat throughout the campaign, and also finished as runners-up in the FDH Bank Cup.

The Nomads tactician was in charge of 40 matches, winning 27 times, drawing on 9 occasions and losing 4. The awards will take place on Friday, 6th March 2026 at COMESA Hall in Blantyre.
