The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will on Thursday, April 2, 2026, officially inaugurate its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee as part of preparations for its forthcoming elections.
The ceremony will take place at the federation’s secretariat in Abuja, with NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau presiding over the event.
The committees were approved during an Extraordinary General Assembly held in Yenagoa on March 23, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening transparency and credibility in the electoral process.

The Electoral Committee is made up of seven members, including a chairperson, vice chairperson, three full members, and two alternates.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Appeals Committee consists of five members, comprising three full members and two alternates.
According to the NFF, the Electoral Committee will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the elections in line with the federation’s statutes and the 2026 Electoral Code.
The Electoral Appeals Committee will address any disputes or petitions arising from the process, ensuring fairness and due process throughout.
Those appointed to the committees include Matthew Burkala (SAN), Justice C. J. Aneke, Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, Babagoni Grema, Benjamin Sak, Bature Musa, Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, Arinze Azubuike Anughere, Dr. Olugbenga Omole, Abayomi Omoyimi, Ayibaye Temedie, and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam.
The inauguration marks the start of official activities for both committees ahead of the NFF Executive Committee elections, scheduled for September 26, 2026, in Lafia.
The outcome of the elections is expected to determine the next leadership of Nigerian football, with stakeholders looking forward to a process that upholds transparency, accountability, and established guidelines.
