In a frightening security scare at the Los Angeles residence of global pop icon Rihanna on Sunday afternoon, police say a woman opened fire toward the property with an AR-15-style rifle, sending multiple rounds toward the front gate of the home. Authorities say the incident unfolded quickly but left neighbors shaken in the normally quiet Beverly Hills enclave where the singer and entrepreneur lives with her family. Fortunately, no injuries were reported despite several shots striking parts of the property.
Law enforcement officials said the suspected gunwoman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting following a brief search involving patrol officers and a police helicopter. Early reports from investigators indicate the suspect allegedly fired several rounds from inside a vehicle parked across the street before attempting to drive away. The episode has renewed conversations about celebrity safety in Los Angeles, where high-profile figures like Rihanna often live behind gates yet still face unpredictable security threats.

Police said the shooting was reported shortly after 1:20 p.m. in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood, an upscale area just outside the city limits of Beverly Hills. According to dispatch audio reviewed by local media outlets, between five and ten shots were fired from a vehicle positioned across the street from the property’s entrance gate.
Investigators later confirmed that several rounds struck the metal gate and nearby structures on the property, while fragments also damaged an RV parked in the driveway. Officials said one bullet or fragment may have penetrated part of an exterior wall, though the main residence did not appear to sustain major structural damage.
Suspect Arrested After Short Pursuit
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in what police described as a white Tesla sedan, prompting officers and an LAPD helicopter to begin searching the surrounding neighborhoods. Air units eventually tracked the vehicle to a shopping center parking lot in nearby Sherman Oaks, where officers conducted a traffic stop roughly thirty minutes after the initial 911 call.
Officers detained a woman in her 30s at the scene and recovered what police described as an AR-15-style rifle inside the vehicle. Investigators also located several spent shell casings believed to have been fired during the incident. Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or announced potential charges while the investigation continues.

A law enforcement source told local outlets that Rihanna was believed to be inside the home at the time of the shooting. Despite the alarming nature of the incident, officials confirmed that no one inside the property was injured.
The luxury residence sits in the Beverly Crest area, a hillside community roughly twenty miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles known for its privacy and multimillion-dollar estates. The home is where Rihanna lives with rapper and partner A$AP Rocky and their young children.
Investigation Now Underway
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division have taken over the case as they work to determine a possible motive behind the shooting. Officials say investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and security cameras that may have captured the suspect’s vehicle before and after the gunfire.
Authorities also confirmed the weapon believed to have been used in the attack was recovered during the arrest. Police have not said whether the suspect had any known connection to Rihanna or the property.

The incident has again highlighted the unique security challenges faced by celebrities in Los Angeles. Even with private gates, surveillance systems, and security personnel, high-profile homes can still become targets for trespassers or individuals seeking attention.
Rihanna has experienced security scares before. In 2018, a man was arrested after breaking into one of her Los Angeles homes and remaining inside for hours before being discovered by a member of her team.
For now, representatives for the Grammy-winning singer have not publicly commented on the latest incident. Police say the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine why the suspect allegedly targeted the residence. Neighbors reported hearing a rapid burst of gunfire followed by the sound of helicopters circling overhead as officers responded to the scene. Authorities emphasized that no injuries were reported and that the suspect was taken into custody quickly, preventing what could have become a far more dangerous situation.
While the frightening episode has shaken residents in the quiet neighborhood, officials say security patrols in the area have been increased as investigators continue gathering evidence connected to the shooting. Officials said additional details, including potential charges and the suspect’s identity, may be released once detectives complete preliminary interviews later this week.
