Orlando Pirates Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou Urges Fight Until the End After Defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns

Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou insists the title race is far from over despite Orlando Pirates suffering a 2 1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

After the game, Ouaddou struck a tone of measured disappointment, acknowledging his side’s shortcomings while refusing to concede ground in the broader campaign.

“We still have games, nothing is lost, but we have to play till the end,” he said, underlining his belief that the season remains alive despite the setback.

Pirates found themselves punished in the first half, where Sundowns capitalised on their opportunities with clinical precision. Ouaddou admitted that inefficiency in front of goal proved costly.

“Unfortunately we were not efficient in the first half. On the other hand, Mamelodi Sundowns had a few chances and they were more efficient than us,” he explained.

The Buccaneers responded strongly after the break, dominating large spells of the second half and pushing for an equaliser. However, their resurgence lacked the decisive touch required to change the outcome.

“I can say that Mamelodi Sundowns had the first half, Pirates had the second half but without scoring the second goal, so we are a bit disappointed,” Ouaddou added.

The result narrows the margin for error in what has become an intense battle at the top. Yet the Pirates coach remains defiant, calling for resilience and focus as the campaign approaches its decisive stretch.

The opportunity may have slipped on the night, but the fight, according to their coach, continues until the final whistle of the season.
