Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has reacted with humor to AFC Bournemouth’s impressive unbeaten run in the Premier League since his departure in January, playfully suggesting he may have been the missing piece.
“I was the problem,” Semenyo laughed, before quickly praising his former side’s strong form. The forward expressed genuine delight at Bournemouth’s resurgence, adding that he hopes the club can push on and secure European football by the end of the season.
Attention now shifts to Tuesday night’s fixture, where Semenyo is set to face his old teammates in what he anticipates will be a demanding encounter. “It’s going to be tough,” he admitted, pointing to Bournemouth’s motivation as they chase a historic finish. “They’ve got something to fight for, so they’re going to make it difficult.”
Despite the competitive edge, the reunion carries a personal touch. Semenyo revealed he remains in constant contact with players at the club, sharing light-hearted exchanges ahead of the match. “I still speak to them every day, to be honest,” he said. “They’ve been giving me a lot of stick, saying they’re going to kick me and all that, but it’ll be good to see them.”
While emotions will run high, Semenyo remains focused on the task at hand, embracing the challenge with confidence. “It won’t be weird going back,” he added. “I’m looking forward to it… hopefully we win.”
