Algeria’s U23 team gets a new leader as Rafik Saïfi takes charge, tasked with preparing the squad for future tournaments, including the 2028 Olympic Games.
A former iconic striker for Les Verts, the 51-year-old coach is taking on the top job for the first time.
After retiring from playing, he entered the media world as a consultant for BeIn Sports, before returning to the pitch as assistant coach and then interim coach at MC Alger.
His international career is impressive: the Algerian Ballon d’Or 2008 winner earned 64 caps for Algeria between 1998 and 2010.
In this new project, he will be supported by Azzedine Rahim.
The first gathering of the U23 team is scheduled for this month, with two friendly matches on the program to officially launch this new era.
