Tunisia : Wadie Jary sentenced to three years in jail

The former president of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF), Wadie Jary, has begun a hunger strike following the confirmation on appeal of his three-year prison sentence.

This sentence, following a long legal saga marked by a reversal, concerns administrative irregularities related to the organization of an African school tournament and the contract of a technical director.

From his prison cell, the former head of Tunisian football denounced legal and constitutional violations in a press release. He proclaimed his innocence, emphasizing the absence of any financial harm to the state or personal enrichment, and asserting that his case was devoid of any evidence of corruption.

Despite this extreme form of protest, Wadie Jary stated that he would continue to challenge this verdict through legal channels.
