Elye Wahi is edging closer to a potential international switch to the Ivory Coast national football team after reportedly completing biometric procedures required to obtain an Ivorian passport.
The striker, who has represented France national under-21 football team and other French youth sides in the past, is now exploring the possibility of pledging his senior international future to the West African nation. The administrative step is seen as a key part of the process toward becoming eligible for the Elephants.
According to reports, the forward recently attended a discreet dinner where he met with Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Faé. During the private meeting, Wahi is said to have outlined his intentions and ambitions regarding a potential switch of allegiance.
Faé had initially been cautious about the idea, but sources indicate the discussion helped ease his doubts. Wahi reportedly made a convincing case about his commitment and desire to represent Ivory Coast at senior international level.
Should the paperwork and eligibility process be finalized, the talented striker could soon become another attacking option for the Elephants as they continue building toward upcoming international competitions.
