Togo and Guinea played to a 2-2 draw on Friday at Morocco’s Moulay Hassan Stadium as part of the March 2026 FIFA international window.

In his debut as coach of the Éperviers, Patrice Neveu saw his team take a deserved lead at halftime thanks to a penalty converted by Kevin Denkey in the 26th minute.

In the second half, despite the Syli National’s territorial dominance, Togo showed clinical finishing.

Idjessi Metsoko doubled the lead with a second penalty, putting the Éperviers up 2-0 and giving them hope of a prestigious victory against an enterprising Guinean side.

The final quarter of an hour, however, turned into a nightmare for the Togolese defense. In the space of five minutes, Togo conceded two avoidable goals, the result of defensive lapses and Guinean determination, letting a victory that seemed all but secured slip away.

This draw leaves a bitter taste for Denkey’s teammates, who could have given their new head coach a first win.

While the offense was effective, shoring up the defense remains Patrice Neveu’s top priority ahead of upcoming matches.
