Tunisia’s ex-national team coach, Sami Trabelsi, has been handed a two-year prison sentence in absentia by a court dealing with financial corruption cases.

This court ruling follows charges of customs and banking violations that have been part of his case.

In addition to the prison sentence, the Tunisian coach has been hit with a hefty financial penalty exceeding 500,000 dinars in fines.

According to reports in the newspaper Al Chourouk, this conviction is part of an intensified crackdown on financial misconduct in the sports and administrative sectors.
