Full List of Nominees Unveiled Ahead of 2025-26 FKF League Awards Gala

The nominees for the 2025-26 SportPesa League Awards have officially been unveiled ahead of the awards gala set for June 4 at the Glee Hotel along the Northern Bypass.

Players, coaches, and teams from across the league have earned recognition following standout performances throughout the season, with league champions Gor Mahia heavily represented across multiple categories.

Morrison, Waithira, Shariff Among Top Contenders

The race for the Player of the Season award features Gor Mahia duo Enock Morrison and Musa Shariff, AFC Leopards defender Kayci Odhiambo, Mara Sugar’s Jimmy Owili, and Murang’a Seal striker Joseph Waithira.

Waithira enjoyed an impressive campaign for Murang’a Seal, while Morrison and Shariff played central roles in Gor Mahia’s title-winning season. Owili and Odhiambo also stood out with consistent displays for their clubs.

Coach of the Season Nominees Revealed

Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has been nominated for Coach of the Season alongside AFC Leopards tactician Fred Ambani and APS Bomet’s Sammy Omollo.

Akonnor guided Gor Mahia to league success, while Ambani oversaw a strong season for AFC Leopards. Omollo’s nomination follows an encouraging campaign for APS Bomet.

Young Stars Earn Recognition

The Young Player of the Season shortlist shines the spotlight on emerging talents who impressed during the campaign.

Kariobangi Sharks winger Humphrey Aroko, Nairobi United midfielder Kevin Wangaya, Mara Sugar defender Robinson Musungu, Kakamega Homeboyz attacker Oliver Machaka, and AFC Leopards youngster Kelly Madada were all nominated.

Best Midfielder and Defender Categories

The Best Midfielder nominees are Enock Morrison, Tyson Otieno, Estone Esiye, Biron Otieno, and Geoffrey Ojunga.

Meanwhile, the Best Defender shortlist includes Jimmy Owili, Abud Omar, Wycliffe Omondi, Kayci Odhiambo, Robinson Musungu, and Paul Ochuoga.

Golden Boot and Golden Glove

Murang’a Seal striker Joseph Waithira and Ulinzi Stars forward Paul Okoth were named nominees for the Golden Boot award, with the final standings pending confirmation after the last round of league fixtures.

Shabana goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng Otieno was nominated for the Golden Glove award after an impressive season between the posts.

Discipline Awards and Team of the Season

Mara Sugar’s Drona Openda, Mathare United’s Ian Omondi, and Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Timothy Ekhavi were shortlisted for the Most Disciplined Player award.

In the team category, Mara Sugar, Kariobangi Sharks, and Mathare United were nominated for the Most Disciplined Team award.

The Team of the Season also features standout performers from across the league, including players from Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Mara Sugar, Shabana, Kenya Police, Kariobangi Sharks, Ulinzi Stars, and Murang’a Seal.

The gala is expected to bring together players, coaches, club officials, sponsors, and football stakeholders to celebrate the standout performers from the 2025/26 SportPesa League season.
