Galatasaray President Rules Out Osimhen Exit Amid Transfer Speculation

President of Galatasaray, Dursun Ozbek, has dismissed reports linking Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen with a move away from the club, insisting the forward remains a key part of the team’s plans.

Osimhen has recently been linked with Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and FC Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window, following another impressive campaign in Turkey.

However, Ozbek stated that the Turkish champions are not open to selling the Super Eagles striker.

“We are not considering selling Osimhen. Osimhen is an important player for Galatasaray,” Ozbek told HT Spor.

“We are not considering selling an important player in our championship race.

“Putting a price on someone you don’t intend to sell is like counting your chickens before they hatch. We don’t have such a thing in mind.

“Osimhen is making the second-generation Galatasaray fans happy.”

The 27-year-old joined Galatasaray on loan from Italian side SSC Napoli in 2024 before completing a permanent transfer last summer.

Osimhen enjoyed a remarkable 2024/25 campaign, scoring 26 league goals and providing four assists in 30 appearances as manager Okan Buruk guided the club to a domestic double.

His performances also earned him the league’s top scorer award.

The Nigerian international continued his fine form this season with 22 goals and eight assists in 33 matches across all competitions, helping Galatasaray retain the Turkish Süper Lig title and reach the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has been recalled to the Nigeria national football team squad for next month’s international friendlies against Poland and Portugal by head coach Éric Chelle.

The former Lille OSC striker returns to the Super Eagles after missing the team’s March friendlies against Iran and Jordan.
