FC Samartex 1996 dealt a major setback to Accra Hearts of Oak after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
The decisive moment came through a thunderous free-kick from Gabriel Osei, whose stunning strike proved enough to separate both sides in a tense Ghana Premier League encounter.
Hearts of Oak entered the match knowing victory would significantly strengthen their push for a top-four finish, but the dominant Phobians struggled to find a breakthrough against a determined Samartex side.
The defeat leaves Hearts third on 51 points, but their position is now under serious threat with Aduana FC, Dreams FC, Asante Kotoko, and Karela United all still mathematically capable of overtaking them on the final day.
Samartex meanwhile moved to 50 points and revived their own hopes of finishing inside the top four.
