Hearts of Oak Terminate Prince Kwabena Owusu’s Contract on Medical Grounds

Accra Hearts of Oak have officially terminated the contract of forward Prince Kwabena Owusu following medical advice, bringing an early end to his short spell with the club.

The 28-year-old striker joined the Phobians during the 2025/26 season from Bibiani GoldStars but struggled to establish himself in the team due to persistent fitness concerns.

Since arriving at the Accra-based side, Owusu made limited appearances, featuring for just 204 minutes across all competitions. The forward also failed to register a goal during his time with the Ghanaian giants.

Owusu’s last meaningful involvement for the club came in October 2025, and he has largely been absent from matchday squads since then. His only appearance in 2026 came in a fixture against Medeama SC, which ultimately proved to be his final outing in the famous red, yellow, and blue colours.

Following medical assessments and consultations, Hearts of Oak opted to terminate the player’s contract in the interest of both the club and the player’s health.

The decision closes a brief chapter for Owusu at one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, as the Phobians continue to reshape their squad for the remainder of the season.
