Former Orlando Pirates attacker Lebohang Mokoena has called on his old club to make a bold move for Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, insisting the prolific forward could be the missing piece in their title ambitions.
Mokoena believes the Buccaneers must not hesitate to invest heavily if they are serious about reclaiming domestic dominance, pointing to Shalulile’s proven pedigree in front of goal. The Namibian international has been a consistent performer for Sundowns, playing a key role in their sustained success in the Premier Soccer League.
“There are a lot of options in the market for a striker, but if we have to break the bank, let Peter come in to share the experience of winning the league,” Mokoena said. He emphasized that players of Shalulile’s calibre bring more than just goals, highlighting their winning mentality and influence within the dressing room.
According to Mokoena, that experience could prove invaluable for Pirates as they look to bridge the gap at the top. He added that while recruitment decisions ultimately lie with the technical team, securing a player like Shalulile would send a strong statement of intent.
“You need those kinds of players because they bring positive energy around the team, because they know what it takes to win,” he noted. “For me, if the coach takes him, it’s good, but first option I would say, Peter come to Orlando, we need someone to finish there.”
