NFF Intensifies Push to Secure Michael Kayode for Super Eagles

Nigeria’s efforts to persuade Italian youth international Michael Kayode to represent the Super Eagles are gathering pace.

According to reports from ViolaNews, officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are planning a face-to-face meeting with the Brentford full-back, with the support of head coach Eric Chelle.

Kayode’s rapid development in the Premier League has attracted attention, and Nigeria is keen to secure his commitment before Italy includes him in their senior national team.

The NFF is expected to present a clear pathway for the 21-year-old to become part of the Super Eagles setup during the proposed talks.

Despite representing Italy at U18, U19, and U21 levels, Kayode is still eligible to switch allegiance, as he has not yet made a senior appearance for the Azzurri.

The defender has previously stated that playing for Italy remains his primary ambition.

Recently, Kayode was omitted from Italy’s senior squad by head coach Gennaro Gattuso for the March European World Cup qualifiers.

Born in Borgomanero, Italy, to Nigerian parents, Kayode remains eligible to play for either country, setting the stage for a crucial decision regarding his international future.
