Nkana FC president Bwalya calls for structured registration of supporters

Nkana Football Club president Justine Bwalya has called for a structured registration of 300,000 supporters as part of a long-term strategy to strengthen the club’s financial base, governance and sustainability.

Speaking during the club’s Annual General Meeting at The Milford Lodge in Kitwe, Bwalya outlined an ambitious vision centred on supporter organisation, infrastructure development and a strong finish to the 2025/26 MTN Super League campaign.

The president said Nkana’s large and passionate fan base represents a powerful foundation that must now be formally structured through a membership system capable of generating sustainable revenue for the Club.

“Nkana Football Club has one of the largest and most passionate followings in the country. If we are able to formally register even 300,000 supporters, this would create a strong and sustainable revenue base for the Club,” Bwalya said.

He explained that beyond financial support, structured membership would strengthen governance, improve data management, enhance commercial leverage and create a more meaningful connection between the Club and its supporters.

Bwalya also reaffirmed the club’s commitment to finishing the MTN Super League season strongly, stating that Nkana’s history demands consistency and respectable performance.

“As we approach the final stretch of the season, our objective is to finish strongly and in a manner that reflects the stature of this Club. Nkana does not participate to make up numbers; it competes with purpose,” he said.

Bwalya disclosed ongoing efforts by the current administration to improve facilities at Nkana Stadium and the club’s camp houses as part of a broader commitment to player welfare and professional standards.

“We recognise that performance on the pitch is directly influenced by the environment in which our players train, prepare and recover. Improving stadium facilities, camp houses and overall working conditions is not a luxury; it is a necessity if we are to compete consistently at a high level,” he added.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) was represented at the AGM by Copperbelt province committee member Frederick Mkandawire and Regional General Secretary Nelly Miamba.
