Rangers Humble Remo Stars as Kwara United Claim Shock Away Win on NPFL Matchday 29

Matchday 29 of the Nigeria Premier Football League delivered a series of surprising results on Sunday, with several teams producing standout performances across the country as the title race and relegation battle intensified.

The biggest shock of the day occurred at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, where Kwara United stunned Katsina United with a 2–1 away victory.

The result handed Kwara United a crucial three points on the road and dealt a blow to the hosts’ hopes of strengthening their position on the table.

In Enugu, Rangers International delivered one of the most dominant performances of the season by thrashing league leaders Remo Stars 4–1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Kenneth Igboke put the Flying Antelopes ahead as early as the 4th minute before Chidozie Iwundu doubled the advantage just four minutes later.

Remo Stars briefly threatened a comeback when Franck Kingue pulled one back in first-half stoppage time.

However, Rangers maintained control after the break as Wisdom Ebirim restored their two-goal cushion in the 62nd minute. Igboke then completed his brace deep into stoppage time to wrap up an emphatic win.

At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia Warriors defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club 2–0. Emeka Obioma proved the hero for the hosts, scoring twice in the 18th and 55th minutes to secure a comfortable victory.

Former champions Rivers United also enjoyed a productive outing, claiming a 3–1 win over Bendel Insurance in another entertaining fixture.

Meanwhile, Nasarawa United narrowly defeated Ikorodu City 1–0, with Bright Amadi scoring the decisive goal in the 83rd minute to give the hosts a vital late victory.

In Jos, Plateau United were in ruthless form as they defeated Niger Tornadoes 3–0.

Temitope Vincent opened the scoring in the 7th minute, Isaiah Sunday added the second goal in the 38th minute, while Nenrot Silas sealed the dominant performance with a stoppage-time strike.

Warri Wolves edged Enyimba 2–1. Qudus Olayinola converted a penalty in the 71st minute before Latti Yusuf doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Chidera Michael reduced the deficit for Enyimba with a late penalty, but the visitors could not find an equaliser.

Elsewhere, Khalifat FC secured a narrow 1–0 win over Bayelsa United thanks to Uchechukwu Onuoha’s strike in the 45th minute.

In Kano, veteran forward Ahmed Musa was the match-winner as Kano Pillars defeated Barau FC 1–0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Musa scored the decisive goal in the 57th minute to hand his side maximum points.

With only a few rounds remaining, the results from Matchday 29 have further intensified the competition in the NPFL, as teams continue to battle fiercely for the title, continental qualification places, and survival in Nigeria’s top-flight league.
