Mamelodi Sundowns delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chippa United 4-1 in a Betway Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday night.
The win sees Sundowns climb to the summit of the league standings, moving two points ahead of Orlando Pirates.
Coached by Miguel Cardoso, the side could stretch their advantage further with another victory in their next fixture.
Sundowns started brightly and took control early in the match.
Their pressure paid off in the 21st minute when Marcelo Allende finished off a well-worked move, converting an assist from Nuno Santos to open the scoring.
The visitors doubled their lead before halftime as Iqraam Rayners found the net in the 37th minute, capitalising on a precise pass from Katlego Ntsabeleng to make it 2-0.
Chippa United responded quickly, reducing the deficit just two minutes later. Sinoxolo Kwayiba finished neatly from a delivery by Azola Matrose, ensuring the first half ended 2-1.
After the break, Chippa pushed forward in search of an equaliser, introducing fresh attacking options.
However, Sundowns maintained control and sealed the contest late on.
Tashreeq Matthews extended the lead in the 83rd minute, before substitute Brayan León added a fourth goal in stoppage time, finishing from a tight angle after being set up by Matthews.
The result leaves Chippa United in 13th place, just above the relegation zone, while Sundowns continue their strong push for the league title.
