Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, officially opened camp in Poland on Monday as preparations gathered momentum ahead of their upcoming international friendly engagement.
A total of 18 players had arrived in camp by the end of the day, although only 16 participated in the team’s first training session held on Monday evening.
Among the players already in camp are goalkeepers Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho and Amas Obasogie Okonkwo, alongside experienced stars Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Paul Onuachu, Terem Moffi and Bright Osayi-Samuel Onyemaechi.
Other players present include Akor Adams, Benjamin Nnadi, Jordan Fernandez, Semi Ajayi, Rafiu Durosinmi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Zaidu Sanusi, Gabriel Ogbu, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and Ibrahim.
The arrival of key members of the squad provided a major boost for head coach Eric Chelle, who is expected to use the friendly fixture to assess his options and continue building a competitive team following the Super Eagles’ recent triumph at the Unity Cup in London.
While 18 players have reported to camp, only 16 took part in the evening workout, with the remaining players expected to join full training after completing recovery and administrative routines.
The opening session focused on light drills, fitness work and tactical exercises as the coaching crew began preparations for the forthcoming test match.
More players are expected to arrive in camp in the coming days, giving Chelle a near-complete squad ahead of the encounter.
The Super Eagles will be looking to maintain the positive momentum generated by their Unity Cup success as they continue preparations for future international competitions and qualification campaigns.
With several established stars and emerging talents already in camp, expectations remain high that the team will put up another impressive display in Poland.
