Tanzania FA Issues Strong Warning to Referees Over Costly Errors

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has delivered a stern warning to match officials, declaring that costly refereeing mistakes will no longer be tolerated as the governing body moves to protect the integrity of football in the country.

TFF President Wallace Karia emphasized that the federation is prepared to impose severe sanctions, including lifetime bans and possible legal action, against any referee found guilty of misconduct or decisions deemed to have compromised matches.

Speaking during a recent address to stakeholders, Karia stressed that the federation is taking a firm stance to ensure fairness and restore confidence in domestic competitions. According to him, referees must uphold the highest standards of professionalism, warning that negligence or deliberate wrongdoing would attract the harshest penalties available under football regulations and national law.

“We are serious about this,” Karia stated, underscoring the federation’s zero-tolerance policy. “Any official who damages the credibility of our game will face decisive consequences.”

The announcement comes amid growing concerns from clubs, supporters, and football stakeholders over controversial officiating decisions in recent fixtures. The federation believes stricter accountability measures will help improve officiating standards and safeguard the reputation of Tanzanian football.

TFF officials indicated that enhanced monitoring systems, closer performance assessments, and disciplinary reviews will be introduced to evaluate referees more rigorously moving forward.

The warning signals a broader effort by the federation to reinforce transparency and professionalism within the sport, as Tanzanian football continues its push toward higher competitive and administrative standards both locally and on the continental stage.
