World Cup 2026: Ghanaian MP wants Andre Ayew included

Eric Edem Agbana has urged Ghana to include veteran striker Andre Ayew in its 2026 World Cup squad, praising his long service to the national team.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, the MP acknowledged that head coach Otto Addo has the final say, but argued that loyalty should be an important criterion in selecting players.

“We must reward sacrifice, hard work, and loyalty. Andre Ayew has shown tremendous commitment to the Black Stars, and I think he should be retained,” Agbana said.

The 36-year-old recently scored his first goal for Dutch club NAC Breda, proving that he remains competitive despite questions about his age.

Referring to historical precedents, Eric Edem Agbana cited former winger Laryea Kingston, who missed the 2006 and 2010 World Cups despite his key role in the qualifying rounds.
