Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team, the Ghana Black Maidens, delivered a commanding performance to secure an emphatic 8–0 aggregate victory over Togo women’s national under-17 football team in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Heading into the second leg with a 2–0 advantage from their first-leg win in Lomé, the Maidens produced a dominant display at home, cruising to a 6–0 triumph to seal progression to the next round.
The hosts wasted little time asserting control, racing to a 4–0 lead by halftime with fluid attacking play and clinical finishing. One of the standout moments came in the 43rd minute when Shani Zeinab capped off a fine team move with a composed finish to register Ghana’s fourth goal of the afternoon.
Despite their comfortable lead, the Maidens maintained their intensity after the break, continuing to press for more goals. They came close on several occasions, though a lack of precision in the final third occasionally denied them an even wider margin.
Captain Seidatu added the finishing touch deep into stoppage time, netting Ghana’s sixth goal in the 90+3rd minute with a well-taken effort, further underlining the team’s superiority across both legs.
Speaking after the match, head coach Nana Adarkwa emphasized the importance of discipline and integrity within the squad, particularly in light of Ghana’s previous suspension from international youth competitions.
“We are being very careful with player eligibility and age compliance after the two-year ban. It’s important we build this team the right way,” he noted.
The comprehensive victory marks a strong statement from the Maidens as they continue their quest for qualification. They will next face Liberia women’s national under-17 football team in the subsequent round, where a tougher challenge is expected as the competition intensifies.
