The Guinea U17 women’s national team have arrived in Nigeria and immediately began preparations for their decisive 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against the Flamingos in Ikenne.
The Guineans held their first training session after landing in the country as they continue preparations for what appears to be a daunting second-leg encounter against the Nigerian girls.
Nigeria’s Flamingos head into the fixture with one foot already in the final qualification round after an emphatic 5-0 victory in the first leg away from home.
The commanding result has placed the West Africans in a strong position ahead of Sunday’s return leg at the Remo Stars Stadium.
For Guinea, the task is now enormous.
They must overturn the heavy first-leg deficit by defeating Nigeria with at least five goals to keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup alive.
Anything short of that would see the Flamingos advance comfortably to the next stage of the qualifiers.
Despite the difficult challenge, the Guinean side appear determined to fight until the very end, with the early training session in Ikenne signaling their readiness for the crucial showdown.
Nigeria, meanwhile, will be aiming to complete the job professionally in front of home supporters and continue their impressive run in the qualification campaign.
The Flamingos have built a strong reputation in women’s youth football in recent years and will be expected to maintain their dominance against the visitors.
The encounter is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 31st May 2026, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, with kickoff set for 4:00 PM Nigerian time.
