Rangers, Rivers United Set For Blockbuster Federation Cup Round of 32 Clash

Fresh from clinching the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League title, Rangers International will face a stern test in the Round of 32 of the 2026 President Federation Cup when they battle Rivers United in one of the standout fixtures of the competition.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for June 1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with both sides aiming to make a strong statement in Nigeria’s oldest domestic cup competition.

Rangers head into the clash in high spirits after emerging champions of the NPFL season and drawing level with Enyimba’s record of nine league titles.

The Flying Antelopes are now targeting a domestic double and will be eager to continue their impressive run against a Rivers United side still disappointed after narrowly missing out on the league crown.

For Rivers United, the Federation Cup presents an opportunity for redemption.

The Port Harcourt club will look to halt Rangers’ momentum and keep alive their hopes of ending the season with silverware.

Another fixture expected to generate attention will see Enyimba FC take on Gombe United in Makurdi.

The People’s Elephant, one of the most successful clubs in Nigerian football history, are among the favourites for the title and will be aiming to avoid an upset.

Relegated NPFL sides are also set for difficult assignments.

El-Kanemi Warriors will battle Akwa United at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja, while Wikki Tourists square off against Bayelsa United in Lafia.

In another exciting contest, last season’s finalists Abakaliki FC will face ambitious Kano-based side Barau FC at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja.

Both clubs are known for their energetic style and youthful squads, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive encounter.

Elsewhere, Bendel Insurance will confront Crown FC in Lagos, while Shooting Stars take on Kada Warriors in Minna.

The Round of 32 fixtures are expected to deliver intense competition across various centres, with clubs from the NPFL and lower divisions battling for a place in the next round of the prestigious tournament.
