The camp of Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, received another boost on Monday morning with the arrival of midfielder Alhassan Yusuf and defender Igoh Ogbuh ahead of the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London.
Their arrival takes the number of players in camp to 19 as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s opening fixture against Zimbabwe.
The coaching crew is still expecting several invited players to report before the team’s final build-up session.
Among those yet to join camp are captain Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Samson Tijani, Ebenezer Akinsamiro, Akor Adams, Emmanuel Fernandez, and Raphael Onyedika.
The Super Eagles officially opened camp on Saturday with 14 players already present.
The squad was later strengthened on Sunday following the arrival of goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, and forward Rafiu Durosinmi.
Head coach Éric Chelle and his technical crew are expected to continue tactical and fitness drills with another training session scheduled for Monday evening at Cray Valley FC in Middle Park Avenue, London.
The official session is billed to begin at 4pm local time.
Ahead of Tuesday’s encounter, Chelle and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho are also scheduled to address journalists during a media briefing at Charlton Athletic Stadium.
Nigeria will begin the defence of their Unity Cup title against Zimbabwe on Tuesday at The Valley, home ground of Charlton Athletic.
The tournament will also feature Jamaica and India, who are set to meet in the second semi-final on Wednesday at the same venue.
The competition will conclude on Saturday, May 30, with the final also taking place at The Valley in London.
